"Our first son was born January 25, 1999. My pregnancy was good and I considered my delivery to be pretty good at the time. We had a conventional birth in the hospital and I was given an epidural and anepisiotomy to "help my body" do this otherwise natural thing. Throughout my pregnancy I was anemic even though I took prenatal vitamins with extra iron. I was on the Standard American Diet. Shortly after this birth, our family made the switch. We started the Hallelujah lifestyle after my dad had a heart attack at age 49. I am only 21, so my husband and I didn't see significant changes other than weight loss . . . but my father has! Anyway, we have been on the diet for about 2 years and I am now pregnant with our second child. We are doing things more naturally this time. We have decided to have a home birth and I have not supplemented my diet with prenatal vitamins. I recently had to go for a routine blood test concerning my pregnancy and I am SO EXCITED about the results! I am not anemic this time! Isn't that the exact opposite of what should have happened according to the world's wisdom! But praise God, all . . . yes I said ALL . . . including protein and calcium levels, are normal even though I don't take supplements or consume any meat/dairy! Allie O. Florida HT192 8/6/01
